Weekly Roundup – 11/14/08

Cg54 The mums are fading away.  The leaves are only hanging on for this last weekend.  The dog walks are twice as long as they need be because there is something mysterious in each and every pile of leaves that demands investigation, not by me, but by the dogs.  And we all wait in suspense to see the new Cabinet unfold and know who is going to run the country and in what direction.   And here is a little of what happened this week.

  • My Talk on the Future of Healthcare Marketing Post-Election – Last week, I had the pleasure and honor of speaking at Google in New York at their annual Health Think 08 on the changing regulatory landscape and how it will impact pharma marketing.  I will have another opportunity to speak on that topic in Morristown, New Jersey on Wednesday, where I’ll be speaking with Dr. David Kessler and Former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta at an event being held by my employer Fleishman-Hillard.  Also present will be Kip Piper, author of The Piper Report and a former state Medicaid chief.  If you are interested in getting an invitation to this event, please email me at mark.senak@fleishman.com and I’ll be sure you get one.
  • Pfizer Launches Global Regenerative Medicine Research Unit –  Pfizer today announced the launch of a new research unit known as Pfizer Regenerative Medicine. This independent research unit will build on recent scientific progress in understanding the biology of stem cells and the opportunity that provides, to discover and develop a new generation of regenerative medicines for major medical needs. The new unit will announce several significant scientific collaborations in the coming weeks that will place Pfizer at the forefront of an emerging area of science that could one day bring hope and benefit to millions of patients worldwide.  Scientists at Pfizer Regenerative Medicine will explore the use of stem cells to develop future treatments that may prevent disability, repair failing organs and treat degenerative diseases. The ultimate goal will be to deliver new medicinal products that can pave the way for the use of cells as therapeutics.
